Riven lacks a source of healing or strong defense and must compensate with burst combos. Lead into fights with Broken Wings and Ki Burst, while using Valor to escape and absorb counter-harass.

Overall, Riven sees a very large drop in her KDA (ratio of kills and assists to deaths) when paired with Briar. His KDA went down from NaN to NaN. There is no perfect companion for Riven that will no matter what be her #1 teammate. However, overall, Briar is a very typical companion for Riven. By playing on the same side as Riven, they raises their win rate by 0.6% to 50.7%. This clearly indicates that there is not really a strong synergy between Riven and Briar that allows them to perform stronger together than without each other.
Briar has a much lower diffuclty than Riven. That means Riven players don't need to be careful when enlisting Briar allies to fight alongside, as they will have to have a much lower level of skill to be able to work well with you.
