There is no ideal ally for Lucian that will always be his ideal ally. Yet, overall, Xerath is a very typical teammate for Lucian. This clearly indicates that there is not really a strong synergy between Lucian and Xerath that results in them performing better together than without each other.
Xerath has a greater difficulty than Lucian. That means you need to be very careful when finding Xerath teammates to go into battle on the same side as, as they will have to have a greater level of skill to cooperate well with you.
Fighting alongside, you will likely see an overall large increase in your team’s capability to deal magical damage. When paired, these champs can deal quite a lot of AP type damage.
In contrast, by grouping Lucian and Xerath together, you probably will not be providing your other allies very much support. Make sure to include other champions on your team that neutralizes this hole in their playstyle.
Regardless of the ability of your Xerath teammate, you need to focus on maximizing your gold income, outlasting your enemies, and clearing objectives. If you do this, you should do well, regardless.
