Both League champs are great champions. Both champs have their strengths, weaknesses, and counters. In the game's current meta, Zed usually fairs equally well when trying to fight Ashe, with a 49.9% win rate. Thus, Zed makes an ok counter to Ashe.
While Zed does have a lower win rate than Ashe, when they face off with one another, Zed also has a much greater learning curve that makes him a more complex champion to pick up and master. You still need to be cautious when picking Zed into Asheas his relative depth means that you may not be able to reach his full potential without a significant amount of practice beforehand.
